Laurence Dutton Photography & Moving Image

Challenge

Laurence asked us to design a new logo for him along with a new website. Of course we started from a branding perspective and created and structure that would allow easy brand extension.

Differentiating photographers is not easy as they all apparently 'do the same thing'. We wanted to create a corporate identity that supported the discipline of photography – style with substance.

Solution

Although tied to the same technical boundaries as all other photographers, Laurence Dutton Photography & Moving Image are highly creative within those boundaries. We started with a basic grid and arranged the typography in an apparently ordered and conformist manner – until the grid is removed. We like to think of this approach as 'chaos from order'.

Throwing in a few cheeky lines such as 'Positions Models Imaginatively' helps to reinforce the concept of playfulness within predefined limits.
